Judith Sijstermans is a Research Fellow in the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLSIS) in the University of Birmingham. She is currently working on an ESRC funded project 'The survival of the mass party: Evaluating activism and participation among populist radical right parties (PRRPs) in Europe' (aka “Populism In Action”) (ES/R011540/1).

She received her PhD in Politics from the University of Edinburgh where she also worked in roles as a research assistant on policy-oriented projects (on Brexit and devolution, gender and local elections, and migration policy). Judith also taught on courses including Comparative Politics, US Foreign Policy, and Politics in a Changing World. Previously, she obtained a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and an MSc in International and European Politics from the University of Edinburgh

Current projects

Judith Sijstermans is a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham. She is conducting research on the ideology and organization of the Vlaams Belang in Belgium
