Matthew Whiting is a Lecturer in comparative politics at POLSIS. His research uses mixed methods to examine the moderation and radicalisation of non-state armed group and state responses to internal threats. He has a particular interest in the Kurds in Turkey and Sinn Féin and the IRA in Northern Ireland.
He completed his PhD at the LSE in 2014. He previously worked as a Teaching Fellow at the LSE (where he won two teaching excellence awards), a Lecturer at the University of Kent, and a Research Associate at the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University.
