I lead the Beacon HEA Professional Recognition Scheme; I am a mentor and assessor for the scheme. I am the lead for Personal Academic Tutoring, supporting staff to develop their expertise in Personal Academic Tutoring. I teach across a number of programmes including the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.

I am passionate about developing and supporting teaching and learning practice that enhances the quality of the staff and student learning experience. My areas of particular interest are: problem based learning, inclusive teaching and learning and personal tutoring.  I have a liaison role with the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. I am a Senior Fellow of the HEA and a Recognised Senior Advisor of UKAT.

Biography

I have been teaching for over 7 years in higher education having previously been a Primary School teacher. I was an Academic Development Partner at De Montfort University for 2 years leading the HEA professional recognition scheme and Personal Tutor development and training.  Before that I was a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at the University of Derby leading the BEd (Hons) Primary Education programme. I joined the University of Birmingham in June 2018.
