I lead the Educational Development Team within HEFi whose remit is to support the enhancement of teaching and learning practice at Birmingham, promote innovation in the curriculum, and facilitate the career-long professional development of academics who teach, and staff in supporting learning roles.

I have a particular interest in authentic, inclusive assessment practice.

I sit on the Universitas 21 Education Innovation Steering Group, representing academic developers across this network.

 I have been teaching for over 16 years in higher education having previously practiced as a lawyer. I was a Senior Lecturer in the Law School at Birmingham City University from 2001 to 2014 and have taught and assessed students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as professional courses.

I joined the University of Birmingham in January 2015  and currently lead the Educational Development team as well as the teaching and learning development strand of work within our Higher Education Futures institute. I am a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
