Dr Olukunle Davis Oke practiced law in Nigeria before joining the University of Birmingham. He has advised P&I Clubs on maritime issues in Nigeria. He has also represented and consulted for private and public sector clients in a number of commercial and investment related transactions.

Biography

Davis holds an undergraduate degree in law from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. He also holds an LLM in International Commercial Law and a PhD in Law from the University of Birmingham. During his doctoral studies, he joined the University of Birmingham as a Teaching Associate and later as a Teaching Fellow.He is a qualified barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His expertise lie in the fields of energy, investment, and shipping law.

Research

Davis' principal research interest lies in the fields of International Investment Law and Arbitration, Energy Law (with a focus on Oil and Gas), and Maritime Law. Broadly, he is interested in points of intersection of these areas of law with the fields of Public International Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights Law and Law and Development.

His present research is set against the theme of state rights in International Investment Law.
