Nikolaos Pattakos is a member of the Mathematical Analysis Group in the School of Mathematics.

Nikolaos has a number of publications in international journals and has delivered talks about his research in workshops and conferences.

Nikolaos Pattakos obtained his BSc in Mathematics from the University of Crete in 2008. He has received four best achievement awards from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation as first, second, third and fourth year student and in addition he has received the Pichorides Award from the School of Mathematics of University of Crete for the year 2005-2006. He went on to study for a PhD in Harmonic Analysis at Michigan State University under the supervision of Dr Alexander Volberg. He has received the Graham Scholarship (2011) and the Dressel Scholarship (2012) from Michigan State University and graduated in 2012.

Research activity

  • Nikos’s research interests lie in weighted norm inequalities in Harmonic Analysis and applications to PDEs. The Bellman function technique plays a central role in estimating sharp constants in inequalities.
