Belinda joined HSMC as a senior lecturer in 2014 and became a senior fellow in 2015 and Director of Leadership in 2016. She has a particular interest in systems leadership and evaluating systems leadership models. Her current work includes developing leadership programmes in collaboration with partners across the university and the Midlands to meet the needs of leaders throughout the UK and global healthcare system.

Belinda Weir is a senior fellow with the Health Services Management Centre at the University of Birmingham, and Director of Leadership. She has been a senior lecturer and cohort director on the NHS Leadership Academy Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme, and is a set advisor on the Nye Bevan programme.

With a background in healthcare leadership and management, Belinda has over thirty years’ experience in the health and social care sector, including as a mental health provider chief executive and as deputy chair of a Foundation Trust. In recent years Belinda has focused on work with senior leaders to support individual and organisational development to meet the changing demands of the health and social care environment.

Other activities

Belinda is the former deputy Chair of Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, and a Leadership Associate with The King’s Fund and the Staff College.
