Mr Isaak Tyros is a highly trained physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal rehabilitation sciences. He is involved with teaching musculoskeletal/manipulative physiotherapy at postgraduate level and his research activities are currently focused on spinal conditions and exercise prescription.

Biography

Isaak Tyros has been working in private practice since 2009 and following completion of his Maters in 2014, he developed an interest in teaching and researching. Since 2015, he acted as clinical mentor and examiner for placements leading to membership with the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and prior to his current role at the University of Birmingham, he worked as a visiting lecturer for the Universities of Birmingham and East London between 2014 and 2019. His research interests are focused on spinal conditions and exercise prescription (whiplash injury, chronic neck pain and thoracic spine), exploring Telehealth as a tool for delivering clinical placement opportunities to students, developing assessment methods (vibration testing in early neuropathies), and researching the effectiveness of dynamometers for teaching manual therapy techniques (dynamometer assisted mobilisations). Being a recreational musician, he has a special interest in performing arts medicine and is registered with the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM). Finally, Isaak has completed a PG Cert in Higher Education with distinction which has further enhanced his academic skills.
