Undergraduate Admissions

I have a Student Route visa, can I bring my family to the UK?

As a Student Route visa holder you can bring family members to the UK as your dependants if:

  • you are a government-sponsored student who is applying for, or who has been granted, entry clearance or leave to remain to undertake a course of study longer than six months;
  • you are sponsored by a higher education institution on a postgraduate level for 12 months or longer AND you are sponsored by a sponsor who is a Recognised Body or a body in receipt of funding as a higher education institution from either: I. the Department for Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland; II. the Higher Education Funding Council for England; III. the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales; or IV. the Scottish Funding Council;
  • your current or most recent immigration permission was as a Student Route or Tier 4 (General) student or a pre-Tier 4 student on a course longer than six months;
  • you have been granted leave to remain as a Tier 4 (General) Student on the doctorate extension scheme.

Your family members will also have to pay the healthcare surcharge as part of their application. Check how much they'll have to pay before they apply.

It is important you read the information and rules applicable to bring your dependants to the UK on the UKCISA website.
