How to get here

We strongly recommend that, where possible, visitors use public transport to reach the University. We have a train station on campus and there will be coaches available to transport you to our accommodation locations.

We recommend that visitors arrive before 12pm in order to make the most of the day.

Finding us

The starting point and central hub for the Accommodation Open Day is Pritchatts Park Village, Pritchatts Road, B15 2QX, and from there we have a range of coach services to take you to the other villages.

Access for visitors with disabilities

If you require an additional mobility map please contact the Disability Service on 0121 414 5130 or The mini buses/coaches will not be suitable for wheelchair users. If transport is needed for wheelchair users please email prior to the event.

Arriving by car

Approaching from the North West or South East along the M6:

  • Leave at Junction 6 (signposted Birmingham Central) to join the A38(M)

  • At the end of the motorway, keep to the right, go over a flyover, then through the two underpasses to join the A38 Bristol Road

  • The Univeristy will be on your right, two and a half miles from the city centre

Approaching from the M42 North:

  • Leave at Junction 8 to join the M6 Northbound and follow the instructions above.

Approaching from the South West:

  • Leave the M5 at Junction 4 (signposted Birmingham SW) to join the A38

  • Follow signs to the University of Birmingham which is approximatley eight miles from the motorway

Approaching from the M40:

  • It is easier to turn south on the M42 and leave at Junction 1, heading north on the A38 Bristol Road

  • The Univerisity is approximatley eight miles from the motorway

When you arrive:

  • You will be able to park free of charge in Pritchatts Road Car Park (B15 2QU) or the multi-storey North East Car Park (B15 2SA)
  • There will be a shuttle coach running between the North East Car Park and Pritchatts Park Village

Arriving by rail

  • Most cross-country services to Birmingham arrive at New Street Station
  • Up to six trains an hour depart for the University on the cross-city line (final destination Longbridge or Redditch)
  • You can walk to Pritchatts Park Village from University Station in approximately 10 minutes - in addition there will be a shuttle coach running between the University train station and Pritchatts Park Village
  • The centre of the main campus is a five-minute walk from University Station
