For the latest accommodation news and updates on applications and allocations...

Key Updates (11th September)

  • We have now allocated all students within the guarantee scheme. If you believe that you are in the guarantee scheme but have not received an offer, please contact us.
  • All remaining rooms have now been allocated and we have contacted all of the students outside of the Guarantee Scheme whom we have been unable to allocate, advising of alternative accommodation options available. We appreciate that this may be an anxious time for those of you still looking for accommodation and we will do our best to support you in finding alternative accommodation. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any advice.

Students within the Guarantee Scheme

We have now allocated all students within the guarantee scheme. If you believe that you are in the guarantee scheme but have not received an offer, please contact us

Students are allocated in a random order, but we take application preferences into consideration. Please note that at this stage we are unable to process swap or move requests.

Further details of our accommodation guarantee can be found on our Guarantee Scheme page.

If you require information about how we allocate accommodation, this can be found on our allocating accommodation page.

Students outside of the Guarantee Scheme

We have now allocated all remaining rooms and contacted all of the students outside of the Guarantee Scheme whom we were unable to allocate, advising of alternative accommodation options available. We appreciate that this may be an anxious time for those of you still looking for accommodation and we will do our best to support you in finding alternative accommodation.

This includes students who:

  • Did not apply within the Fresher's Guarantee Scheme deadline
  • Selected Birmingham as their insurance choice only
  • Have applied to the University through clearing
  • Did not confirm before 1st September that they are coming the the University of Birmingham
  • Are not studying with us for a full academic year

A number of en-suite rooms and studio apartments in private purpose-built student accommodation are still available. Also, Guild Lettings (the University’s preferred lettings agency run by the Guild of Students) has a number of rooms available in shared student houses. You can also search for rooms and flatmates on Birmingham Student Pad (the University’s official property search engine).

A number of rooms in University accommodation may also become available through cancellations or from students withdrawing over the next few weeks. If you would like to be added to a waiting list for one of these rooms or to discuss this option further please contact Living. Please note that at this stage we cannot predict or guarantee how many rooms will become available as part of this process.
