Student Support Fund
The Student Support Fund (SSF) is provided by the University to help students who have genuine and unavoidable financial difficulties and are struggling with their living costs despite having received all financial support available to them.
Please note that the SSF cannot be used in any circumstances to help fund tuition fees.
The SSF is open to all normally registered students, however a UK student must have taken all the statutory support available to them, and all other students must demonstrate that they made adequate realistic provision for their studies before embarking on their course.
All awards made from the SSF will be means-tested, therefore some applications will be unsuccessful. Any award granted will be paid as a non-repayable cash bursary into the student’s nominated bank account. Students may receive up to £2,500 in any academic year.
Applications for support can be made at any time during your academic year provided that you are a registered student. The fund will therefore close for undergraduate applications at 17:00 on Friday 19 June 2020. Postgraduates may continue to apply (although any application made after 31 July 2020 will be for the 2020/21 academic year). The fund is likely to reopen fully to all students on Monday 28 September 2020.
