On campus, Joe’s Bar is a firm favourite with students, particularly as you’ll find plenty of student deals. It’s the perfect place to meet up with friends after a day of lectures. We also have our own underground club called Fab ‘n’ Fresh which you can find underneath Joe’s Bar. It’s a student favourite and ideal for a great night out- you can even walk home afterwards!

For Birmingham students, there’s always something going on, on campus. There are regular talks held in all of our departments on a range of topics, and the Bramall Music Building hosts a variety of events from fantastic comedy nights and film screenings to theatre productions and concerts.

The Guild of Students hosts a number of events throughout the academic year, for all students to get involved in. You have the chance to be part of the largest student-run festival in Europe right on campus; ValeFest is held in the summer at one of our accommodation villages, is open to all students and raises money for various charities. The festival is a great way to spend a summer’s day (and night) with amazing food, great new music talent, comedy shows and more! (And you’ll be raising money for a good cause at the same time!)

However, don’t worry about the cooler months - in November, the University lights up the sky with its annual and incredibly popular Vale Fireworks. The Vale Village is filled with people from across the campus and even further afield to watch the amazing display across the lake. And in December, the Guild of Students hosts its annual Winter Spectacular event on campus. Past events have included ice rinks, Ferris wheels, live music and delicious street food.

You can also get really involved through joining one - or more! - of the Guild’s many student groups and societies.
