Learning Communities

Module 28550

School of Education

The module explores the ways in which different theoretical conceptions of the learner and their communities might impact on the learning, teaching and pedagogy that they experience. The module draws together different theoretical perspectives on learners and their communities and seeks to understand how they might influence the approaches of educators to learning, teaching and pedagogy. We understand learners in terms of their participation in form both contemporary and historical  contexts of learning (early years settings, schools, colleges, universities) and informal educational and community contexts (including self-help groups, political and community activism, organisations, leisure and the creative industries).
