Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods

Assessment: 

  • Quantitative assignment : Written assignment with practical element (30%)
  • Qualitative assignment: Written assignment with practical element (30%).
  • Examination : Short essay style exam – students select and answer 3 questions in 2.5 hours (40%)

This module will cover a range of research methods commonly used when undertaking whole person or community based research. Teaching draws on a range of disciplines including epidemiology, psychology and the social sciences to provide you with a ‘toolbox’ of methods upon which they can draw. The module will cover both theory and practice so you should complete the module feeling confident about applying methods to your own research e.g. designing questionnaires, conducting research interviews, analysing your data etc.
