Research Design - Public Health and Population

Credits: 20

1.  Oral presentation of research plan (30%)
2. Written protocol (70%)

This module will equip you with the skills needed to conceive and design a feasible research project. You will select a project supervisor in consultation with the Module Co-ordinator.  You will meet with your supervisor to develop a research proposal for the project to be carried out in Semester 2. You will meet in seminar groups to discuss project ideas and development. If necessary, ethical approval for the proposed project will be obtained and scoping work (e.g. familiarisation with local policy and practice) undertaken. At the end of Semester 1, each student will give a 10-minute oral presentation of the research proposal to the group.

You will also submit a written research proposal. You  will work under close supervision and have tutorials with their supervisor on a regular basis.
