Applied Golfer Development

Programmes

Level

Year Three

This module integrates students’ prior learning in the fields of coaching and sport sciences allowing them to holistically plan player development in golf. Students will analyse and evaluate the role of science within coaching and its application to coaching pedagogy. Module delivery will engage students with the multi-disciplinary nature of coaching and performance, using player data to produce applied development strategies. This will be carried out through the use of both hypothetical and real-life case studies designed to develop an understanding of the difficulties involved in player development.

By the end of the module students should be able to:

  • Plan and develop an integrated coaching programme for a golfer using appropriate profiling, coaching and scientific principles.
  • Effectively analyse the ball flight of a golfer and identify coaching priorities from this.
