Human Resource Management

Programmes

Level

Year three

This module will introduce students to the concept of Human Resources Management in an organisation.  All organisations, large or small, public, private or voluntary require the maximum utilisation of human resources if they are to be effective and efficient.  The effective management of this key resource is one of the main routes to achieving a competitive advantage.  The module will explore the key stages of the 'employment cycle' from a theoretical perspective whilst focusing on how theory can inform the management of a business in practice.  On completion of this module, it is expected that students will have an informed view of modern human resource management strategies and how they can be applied in a golf context.  In addition, students will be expected to adopt a critical perspective, thus enabling them to challenge 'conventional wisdom'.
