This course on motor learning encompasses an area of study that explains how we acquire, develop and retain new motor skills. The course will cover the key concepts and theoretical frameworks for understanding in the field of motor learning.

By the end of the module students should be able to:

  • Describe and critically assess the fundamental concepts and theories of motor learning
  • Describe some of the key mechanisms underlying skill acquisition
  • Show an understanding of the neural basis of learning.
  • Discuss cognitive aspects of motor planning and motor memory
