The module is designed to introduce students to the core physiotherapy concepts of promotion of physical activity and exercise. There will be a strong emphasis on the development of practical skills to safely and effectively prescribe a range of physical activity and types of exercise to individuals and groups with specific problems. Students will also develop an understanding of how to evaluate the effectiveness of these activities, and to appropriately progress them. Underpinning theory of the body’s physiological responses to activity, lack of activity and different types of exercise throughout the lifespan will be a key part of the module content.
