Constructing Learning from Practice

Level

Year Four

20 Credits

This module takes an innovative approach to participant-led learning to develop students’ clinical reasoning and graduate attributes ready for clinical practice. Students work together to prioritise topics, identified from reflections on previous clinical experience, that they would like to develop their knowledge and skills in further. They then collaborate in groups and with the wider community of practice including academics in SPortExR and external clinicians and researchers to plan and develop bespoke module content that meets their identified learning needs. The planning and development of the learning activities is facilitated through regular student-led seminars and supervision sessions and forms part of the module assessment. Students also take part in workshops that develop different perspectives in clinical reasoning and their wider graduate attributes, including on-call physiotherapy simulations and global health focused learning activities exploring social determinants of health. Through the module assessment, students reflect on how learning experiences on the module will inform their future clinical reasoning and approach to lifelong learning.
