Award Description

Lloyds Banking Group have made the difficult decision not to recruit a cohort for the 2021/22 academic year, in response to the continued restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The University of Birmingham will continue to support existing Lloyds Scholars at the university. Recruitment for the 2022/23 academic year will be reviewed in 2022. 

The Lloyds Scholarship offer students from lower household incomes a complete package of financial support, paid internships and the opportunity to develop their employability skills.

Students who are successful in becoming Lloyds Scholars will receive a full package of support.

Please note that candidates are considered through a rigorous application process, including completion of an online form, an online numeracy test, a telephone interview and if successful, assessment at one of our assessment centres. 

Value of Award

This scheme offers a full package of support, which will include:

  • Annual bursaries of £1500 to help with living costs and study materials
  • End of course excellence awards for top scholars when you graduate

  • Access to advice and support from a dedicated mentor
  • Training and development opportunities

Eligibility Criteria

In order to apply to the Lloyds Scholars programme you must:

  • Be a UK resident or an EU student currently residing in the UK
  • Have a confirmed offer of a place to study at the University of Birmingham, having made the University your first-choice
  • Be commencing the first year of a full-time three or four year undergraduate degree
  • Have an assessed household income of less than £25,000

Students undertaking a five-year programme will not be eligible to apply for this scholarship
