How do I get to uni?
Once you’ve chosen your degree subject, you need to find out what courses you should take after your GCSEs to get in to uni.
Some careers, like being doctor, require a medical degree. So you’ll need A-levels that support studying medicine at uni, such as biology and chemistry. When you apply to university, find out what grades you need, in which subjects, to get on your chosen course.
Not all university courses ask for A-levels, so it’s worth looking into BTECs, International Baccalaureate, or vocational courses too. Carrying out some work experience or voluntary work related to your subject may also help.
If you’re not sure what career you want, or if you make the wrong choices, it’s not the end of the world; no one is expecting you to plan out the rest of your life right now.
But having an idea of your likes and dislikes, how you learn best, your skills, and any specific requirements for your course, will all help you make the right decision.
