Every year we enter into agreements with private providers so that we can accommodate all of the students within our Freshers' Guarantee Scheme. Housing 300 first year students on the doorstep of campus, The Metalworks is a popular preference for our Undergraduate students.
Rooms in these residences form part of the Guarantee Scheme and students may be allocated these in their first year. You will be placed with other University of Birmingham students, in the same way as you would be in University-owned accommodation.
Situated on the doorstep of campus, Host offers state of the art student accommodation to students at the University of Birmingham under the terms of our guarantee scheme.
The Metalworks isbe situated just a couple of minutes walk away from the new Bournbrook Pavilion, which is equipped with a bar, cafe and sports changing rooms.
The Metalworks also sits on the edge of Selly Oak, a popular a vibrant area for students which offers a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, take-aways, pharmacies, doctors, dentists and much more.

*Please note that the fee for "Host - The Metalworks" has now decreased from £6,636 to £6,573 (42 week contract). That's £1.50 less per week. (Update as of 28th February 2018)
- Please note in order to secure this accommodation a rental payment of £200 will be required once you have received your contract from Host. A UK guarantor will be required if you wish to pay by instalments with the first instalment due in September 2017.
- If you want to pay by monthly direct debit then Host offer a payment plan in partnership with Housing Hands who provide a guarantor service to both UK and international students.
