Who we are

Sustainability at the University of Birmingham is the responsibility of all staff and students and is embedded across our Colleges and Professional Services.

Sustainability Steering Group

The University’s Sustainability Steering Group (SSG), chaired by Professor Laura Green (Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of College of Life and Environmental Sciences), with representatives from across the University, provides strategic oversight and co-ordination of the University’s approach to delivering sustainability in education, research and a green campus, locally, nationally and internationally. The Group reports to the University Executive Board (UEB).

Sustainability Task Group

The University’s Sustainability Task Group (STG), chaired by Lydia Dutton (University Sustainability Manager), supports the Sustainability Steering Group by developing and implementing policies, practices and action plans to embed sustainability across the University.

The SSG and the STG work together with colleagues across disciplines, Professional Services and the Guild of Students to make the University more sustainable and a better place to learn, develop, teach, conduct research and to live.
