Join us to celebrate the vibrant local and national independent poetry publishing scene. 

Join us to celebrate the vibrant local and national independent poetry publishing scene with a showcase of presses and poets from the West Mids and further afield. Featuring authors from Verve Poetry Press, Penned in the Margins (including the University of Birmingham's very own Luke Kennard), Nine Arches Press, Smith|Doorstop, Burning Eye, Bad Betty, Bare Fiction, and UoB's creative writing society Writers' Bloc, campus will be awash with award-winning writers and their award-winning publishers. There will be signings afterwards and all books will be available to buy.

Hosted by University of Birmingham alumnus Ben Norris, two-time UK poetry slam champion and star of BBC Radio 4's The Archers, who will also be reading from his recent Verve pamphlet.

The full list of poets reading is: Luke Kennard, Yasmina Nuny, Kamil Mahmood, Nafeesa Hamid, Roy McFarlane, Gregory Leadbetter, Rebecca Cullen, Tristram Fane Saunders, Cliff Yates, Sean Colletti, Jake Wild Hall, Anne Gill, Emily Hana, Isaac Boothman, Tina Sederholm and Carys Jones.

Book to the Future

This event is part of Book to the Future - the University of Birmingham's annual festival of the written and spoken word. It features an exciting programme of free workshops, panel discussions, performances and author talks. 

The festival is open to all who are interested in the arts. It welcomes staff and students of the University of Birmingham, but also extends a warm invitation to the general public. We look forward to welcoming you!
