Postgraduate Student Experience Officer
I am a current student on the MA Modern British Studies programme. I graduated with my first degree (from the University of York) in 2013 and then worked for a few years, first in digital journalism, then in the field of international education, prior to beginning my studies at Birmingham.
Throughout my time in higher education I have been involved with a wide range of projects and initiatives aimed at ensuring students have an enjoyable, enriching and intellectually fulfilling time at university. This means I am delighted to have the chance to work with students and staff right across the College of Arts and Law on a wide array of projects addressing the areas that postgraduates say matter to them.
My role comprises part of the College’s ongoing drive to improve postgraduate study, you’ll see listed below the key areas that I focus upon. Please do get in touch if you have any ideas about how we can work together as a learning community to better serve you during your time at Birmingham:
- Improving the ways that we support the crucial transition from earlier levels of study to taught and research postgraduate qualifications. We want to see you hit the ground running!
- Honing, fettling and fine tuning the careers support and personal development opportunities that the College offers postgraduate students so that they are fully tuned to your needs.
- Enabling the flourishing of an exciting, engaging and fully accessible postgraduate community across the college. This includes work to enhance and develop our postgraduate study spaces.
- Developing the way that we communicate with you so that you have access to the information that you need when you need it and are always in the loop.
