Samuel Douglass page

Samuel has spent the last few years working in military and marine mechanical engineering, working on a variety of placements with the Royal Navy, and particularly on submarines or surface ships.

Before he joined the University Sam attended an outreach residential which solidified his decision to study engineering and inspired him to take a year's work experience so he could gain a greater understanding of the sector.

Sam says his time at University helped him understand himself as a person and the way he works, along with providing many experiences and skills that prepared him for his career after graduation.

Advice from Sam

“Talk to as many people as you can on your course - I didn't do that enough - and you'll find you're all in the same boat. Make sure you try and find time to do things that aren't you're degree. It's a great city and there are other amazing things happening here that aren't just engineering. And don't be afraid to climb out of your comfort zone at times, maybe push your limits. You never know you may find something you wouldn't have imagined yourself doing beforehand.”
