ChemSoc students produced some spectacular cakes for their charity Halloween Cake Bake

Students from the University of Birmingham's Society of Chemistry (ChemSoc) recently held a Halloween-themed bake sale which raised over £200 for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

ChemSoc members were invited to put their baking skills to the test and create some truly spooky Halloween-inspired cakes to sell to hungry students, staff and visitors to the School of Chemistry. As you can see from the photos below, the students rose to challenge and then some.

Thanks to people's generosity (and appetite), Chemsoc were able to raise £234.22 for Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity. Every year, the hospital provides expert care to 90,000 children and young people from across the country. The funds will help support everything from lifesaving research to decorating a waiting room.

Reflecting after the event, Chemsoc's charity rep, Halima, said:

"Our Halloween Bake Sale was successful and it was a great way in getting the whole school baking or eating cake! We feel really proud of the generosity of Birmingham students and staff who helped us raise over £200 for Birmingham Children's Hospital."
