The University of Birmingham and Soochow University in China have signed a 2+2 physics undergraduate articulation programme.

On Tuesday 8 January 2019, Professor Andy Schofield, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Head of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and Professor Xiaohong Zhang, Vice President of Soochow University, officially signed the collaborative agreement in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.

This marks the University’s successful partnership with the prestigious Chinese university which had a national comprehensive ranking of 28th in 2017, is ranked 9th for physics in China, and the 60th in the world (Nature Index ranking, 2018).

The 2+2 programme will enable outstanding Chinese physics students to complete their first two years of study at Soochow University, then directly enter Year 3 at the University of Birmingham. Upon successful completion of two further years at Birmingham, students will then be awarded a full University of Birmingham MSci Physics degree.

- Soochow University was founded in 1900. It has three campuses, twenty-six schools and departments, and is situated in the historical and picturesque city of Suzhou - a metropolis well reputed in the world for its classic gardens. Soochow University is a national key institute listed in the Project 211, a first-class member in the "2011 Program" and a top comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province.
