Why did you originally apply to do your chosen course at Birmingham?

Because I wanted to apply the organic chemistry background I had from my bachelors degree for a particular purpose such as the synthesis of medicinal compounds, and the MSc Drug Discovery and Medicinal Chemistry provides a great chance to learn how to do this.

What do you think are the best points of your course?

The best points of the course are:

  • It provides a broad perspective of the whole drug discovery process
  • It provides a deep knowledge in terms of parameters and factors to consider in the design of drugs and their synthesis
  • It provides background about existing alternatives for a selective delivery of drugs by means of Drug Delivery Systems
  • It is not only taught by academic lecturers but also by experts who have been working for leading pharmaceutical companies

What’s the best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham?

The best thing is the huge campus with plenty of great facilities such as the main library, places for lunch with high quality food, a fantastic sports centre etc.

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying on the course?

If you are really interested in a career in medicinal chemistry, then this programme will be a perfect fit for improving your knowledge and providing a real boost for your future career in this field.
