Janvi Shah, Civil Engineering.

"My Name is Janvi Shah and I studied MSc in Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Management, following which I worked for duration of two years in a reputed organisation putting my subject knowledge to practice.
However, my keen interest to pursue a PhD and my time at the University of Birmingham motivated me to apply in the same University.
Currently I am completing my first year of PhD in Civil Engineering, I strongly feel University of Birmingham is not only a reputable institute to be a part of, but also provides a dynamic atmosphere for international students to study and integrate with other students from all over the world.
Apart from exceptional academic staff with good subject knowledge and impressive facilities, the University offers a unique student friendly atmosphere which is both supportive and motivational where one can feel free to discuss their subjects, difficulties and smooth their learning curve in a supportive and motivational environment.
There are several Indian communities in the University which celebrate various cultural occasions and provide a platform to stay connected to fellow Indians and traditions, giving us an atmosphere of being at home away from the home."

"Often students think that London is the place to be but Birmingham is no less equal to it.
Birmingham is a beautiful city and the University Birmingham is one of the few universities who have their own very large and beautiful purpose built campus. This is also the only university having its own train station making commuting to and from the university very easy. The campus features traditional style building, learning centre for you to have group study sessions, coffee places including Starbucks and a very vibrant and huge library offering extended hours during exam times.
The University of Birmingham, being part of the Russell Group (similar to the Ivy League in the US) enjoys a high ranking and offers majors in diverse fields.
The University of Birmingham offers outstanding education facilities as well as opportunities for extra-curricular activities for everyone.
Birmingham being second largest city of UK is growing with businesses moving in, hence offers a lot of job opportunities for graduates. I am proud to have graduated from the University of Birmingham and will miss it."
