"The University provides a lot of support services for students and creates an environment where I am able to fully concentrate on my studies."

Why did you apply to the University of Birmingham?

I've always wanted to study at a prestigious university in the West. I chose the UK in particular as English is the only foreign language I speak. The other reason was the academic system and the course structure, because as far as I know this is the only country where there are undergraduate masters courses (MSci). Instead of 3+2 years I can get a masters degree in only 4 years. I chose the University of Birmingham because I simply fell in love with the campus and I appreciated the geniality of the academic staff, as well. I think the university will provide me with the best career prospects in the field of my studies.

What are the best points of your course?

The lecturers and the academic staff are extremely supportive, friendly and dedicated to making the best course possible.

What's the best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham?

The University provides a lot of support services for students and creates an environment where I am able to fully concentrate on my studies. My lecturers and personal tutor are very helpful, their office is always open to students. Moreover, the library is well equipped with all the books I need for my course and I also have online access to other scientific articles and papers.

What's your highlight of your time here?

Definitely the Physics Poynting Society Ball! I had a really good night and had a lot of fun in a glamorous place.

What advice would you give to other international students?

Come here because you will get a lot of lifelong experiences, memories and friendships! These years will be the most beautiful of your life.

What do you like the most about the city?

I love the Edgbaston area with its red-bricked houses and neat gardens with beautiful flowers, parks and green spaces. It has a typical English style.

How have you benefitted from studying in the UK?

My English has improved significantly and I have learnt the terminology of Physics and Maths in English which would have been much harder in my home country. I have also met a lot of new people from lots of different cultures.
