Research Presentations and Posters

Learn about the exciting research being undertaken by postdocs and early career research staff across the two Colleges through our programme of research presentations and poster sessions.

Call for Abstracts

Prizes of £300 for best oral presentation and £150 for best posters. 

Deadline for submission of abstracts: Friday 11th March 2022 

Eligibility for Submission of Oral Presentations and Posters  
  • All postdoctoral and early career research staff in EPS and LES are eligible to apply to present an oral presentation or a poster at the conference. 

  • Oral presentations must consist of a 10-minute presentation with 5 minutes for questions. 

  • Please present your poster in person. If your application is successful you will be sent details of appropriate poster size and format.  

  • Both posters and oral presentations should be presented in language suitable to an audience drawn from a range of different disciplines.  

How to Apply  

Applications must be submitted using the abstract template and must clearly state your name, school, the field of research, whether you are submitting an oral presentation or a poster, the provisional title of the oral presentation or poster and provide an abstract of your research in no more than 250 words and one A4 page. One figure with figure caption may be included, provided it fits within the abstract template (max height 7.5cm, max width 13cm).

Scientific Abstract Requirements 

Your scientific abstract will be shortlisted on the basis of the following criteria:  

  1. Your abstract should have an engaging title that attracts non-specialists' attention.  

  1. Your abstract should have a clear outline describing the originality and impact of your research. 

  1. You should use a jargon-free language where technical terms are explained clearly wherever possible. 

In order to protect the confidentiality of material presented either as an oral presentation or a poster during the conference, these presentations will not be recorded or shared outside of the conference. 

Who Should Attend

The conference is open to postdoctoral and early career research staff in the Colleges of LES and EPS.  We also welcome doctoral students, academics, postdoctoral staff from other Colleges and professional services staff.
