On 10 October, The Alan Turing Institute, which is the national institute for data science and artificial intelligence, appointed 22 researchers from the University of Birmingham, including nine from or related to the College of Life and Environmental Sciences.

The Birmingham-based researchers will join over 250 new and returning researchers as the Institute launches its third ever academic year.

The nine researchers from the College of Life and Environmental Sciences are:

•     George Bassel

•     James Bentley-Brown

•     Matthew Brett

•     Jean-Baptiste Cazier – Associated through the Centre for Computational Biology

•     Samuel Johnson

•     Iain Johnston

•     Nicholas Loman

•     Uta Noppeney

•     Emmanouil Tranos
