PERCAT Rep for the School of Biosciences
What is your academic background and your current research field?
I am a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Biosciences and have been a PERCAT rep for the School since 2017. During my time at Birmingham I have been a postdoc in both Biosciences and the Medical School, as well as holding a number of temporary teaching positions. I have broad research interests, focusing on gene regulation in bacteria, outer membrane biogenesis in Gram-negative bacteria and synthetic biology.
What is your role as a PERCAT Rep and how can postdocs in your school contact you?
As a PERCAT Rep I am committed to championing the rights of postdocs within the University, particularly in helping postdocs gaining suitable training to enhance their careers and employability. I can be contacted by email (D.F.Browning@bham.ac.uk) and am located in lab G7 in Biosciences. So if you are a new postdoc in Biosciences or a seasoned veteran, would like a chat and a coffee, or have more pressing matters, then please feel free to contact me. I may not be able to solve all your problems but I can point you in the right direction and perhaps make your time at Birmingham more rewarding and successful. Remember PERCAT is here for you!
