Professor David Thickett, DM FRCP
Professor of Respiratory Medicine
Institute of Inflammation and Ageing

In this lecture, David will outline the work of his group around the role of vitamin D in pneumonia sepsis and lung injury as well as their work relating to whether statin drugs influences outcomes as adjuvant therapy for sepsis and pneumonia. Over the last 5 years, his group has explored the effects of vitamin D upon innate and adaptive immunity and have undertaken experimental medicine clinical trials to demonstrate that both vitamin D and statins influence cellular function both in vitro and importantly in vivo. Further larger clinical studies are now in preparation.

THIS LECTURE IS OPEN TO ALL, PRE-REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED
