From bench to bedside: What makes us special?
Our location means that we don’t have travel to deliver translational medicine – we have world class facilities right on our door step. The principal base of the College of Medical and Dental Sciences at the University of Birmingham lies immediately between the main University campus and the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital (University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust), with a number of other key NHS Trust partners nearby including Birmingham Children’s Hospital (as part of Birmingham Health Partners) and Birmingham Women's Hospital.
We have formalised this alliance of shared research, training and patient care objectives, and this provides us with a host of world class research facilities, research groups and industry opportunities. These services enable our scientists and clinicians to speed up the rate at which research can improve patient treatments and outcomes.
