MSc Genomic Medicine, full time 2015/16

What is your background?
I graduated two years ago from the University of Warwick with a BSc in Biomedical Science and heard about the course from a friend that was doing a PhD at the University of Birmingham. Whilst I had been looking at more generic MSc programmes I liked the fact that this course covered an exciting, up-and-coming field.
How have you found the course so far?
So far on the full-time programme we have completed 4 core modules with 3 more to be completed by March leaving time for our optional modules. I really enjoyed the Genomics in Cancer Pathology module and have been impressed by the number of guest speakers we have on the programme. Being linked to the 100,000 Genomes Project has been an important part of the course.
Getting back into studying again has been the most challenging part of the programme but it’s not been too overwhelming. There has been lots of support offered and the staff have been very approachable and available.
What advice would you give to life science students thinking about studying on this course?

How do you think this course will improve your career prospects?
This course will definitely give me options around doing a PhD or working in labs and will be invaluable for making useful connections and networking.
