ESRC Festival of Social Science 2020: Society from your sofa

This year’s festival has gone virtual, and as you cannot come to us, we are bringing society to your sofa! Amid a global pandemic, society is changing dramatically and at a dizzying pace. The way we work, socialise, seek medical support, spend our money and manage our relationships as individuals, families, communities and countries is changing. What will the ‘new normal’ be and how should the society of tomorrow look? Is this Zoombieapocalypse or is there a brighter future on the horizon?

Does Black Celebrity Activism influence you?

In light of the recent events involving the Black Lives Matter movement this year, we will be examining the impact Black celebrities and personalities have had when using their platform as political activists.

If you’re passionate about the environment, we want to hear from you! We’re calling on under 16s to create a poster for our competition. Your design should identify a plastic-related problem and pose a solution to that problem.

Your design can be linked to climate action, ecosystems on-land or water or how plastics are made, sold, used and disposed of. You can use the template attached or create your own, with drawings, photographs or words - it's up to you!

The best designs will win a £20 Waterstones voucher, and will feature on our website and twitter.

How to enter

Fill out the form and upload your design and a photograph of yourself if you have your parent or guardian's permission to www.birmingham.ac.uk/plastic-pollution before Friday 4th December. The winners will be chosen in December. Good luck!
