Despite considerable government intervention during the Covid-19 pandemic incomes have fallen, and problem debt has increased. Families with children have been particularly hard hit, with 4.5 million using consumer credit to make ends meet.

During this session each of our expert panel will have 5 minutes to draw on their evidence and expertise to pitch their proposals for policy reforms which respond to the current crisis. In this Dragons' Den style event the audience and resident dragons will be able to quiz the panel before the audience cast their vote for their favourite policy reform.

Chair: Professor Karen Rowlingson (University of Birmingham);

Panellists: Mike Brewer (Resolution Foundation), Christoph Gortz (University of Birmingham), Stephen McKay (University of Lincoln), Fahmida Rahman (Stepchange).

This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences. Spanning the month of November a range of interactive virtual and physical events will be free and open to the public - find out more about our other events as we discuss Our Changing World!
