Be part of the University’s important civic engagement agenda working with Citizen’s UK and join us on 4 May 2017, 10:00 – 11:30, for the second meeting of the CoSS Citizens UK Group.

Following the success of the last meeting held in January, which brought together Professional Services staff, Academics and students from across the University this meeting offers the opportunity to be part of this important work – creating positive change in society, whilst gaining new skills and experience working with Citizens UK and Community groups across a wide variety of activities.

The College of Social Sciences is a Principal Member of Citizens UK (CUK): Birmingham, a diverse civil society alliance committed to using community organising to generate collective power for social change. Under the stewardship of Prof Vice Chancellor Saul Becker and Dr.Catherine Durose (Convenor of CoSS-CUK: Birmingham), colleagues across the College have developed a range of exciting initiatives with CUK which aim to promote community action as well as provide opportunities for innovative and engaged research.

If you are interested understanding more about civic engagement and how University staff and students can be part of this programme, there will be representatives from Citizens UK present talking about this. This is open to all Academic and Professional Services staff and students across the University, looking to find out more about Community organising and the reciprocal benefits of volunteering and working with the community.
