The University of Birmingham has invested in an Education Enhancement Fund (EEF) since 2010, with funding of over £1.4m awarded to 199 projects across the five Colleges and Professional Services.
The fund inspires colleagues to think creatively about learning and teaching, and enables grant holders to develop their practice in a way that complements Birmingham’s commitment to research intensive teaching. Those who have been involved in EEF projects tell us that it has fostered collaboration across disciplines and allowed for meaningful engagement with students.
“As a PhD student this EEF project has been immensely worthwhile, in particular having the opportunity to engage in robust dialogue with academics, stimulating new ideas and collaborations for improving education.”
The outputs of many EEF projects have had a significant and sustained impact on teaching and supporting learning at the University. As we approach the 10-year anniversary of the Fund we are planning a number of initiatives to celebrate the success of the projects that have most enhanced our students’ learning experience. We invite you to explore the diverse range of projects we have funded under a variety of different themes; all of which are underpinned by our broader theme of educational enhancement.
“It is rare to have opportunities for cross-college collaboration on education, and our EEF funding has enabled us to go through the unique process of gaining perspectives from other disciplines, developing stronger links and potential teaching activities with them.”
The Education Enhancement Fund (EEF) has provided staff with opportunities to develop essential skills support to students across campus.
Many EEF projects have flourished into the broad landscape of innovation, enhancement and good practice that can be seen across the University today.
EEF funding has promoted the development of significant experience and expertise in key aspects of inclusive education.
Investing in the Education Enhancement Fund (EEF) is central to the University of Birmingham’s strategy for nurturing excellence in teaching.
