Introduction to Academic Practice for Doctoral Researchers: Accredited Module

Suitable for: Postgraduate researchers with confirmed regular and varied teaching and teaching-related responsibilities over two terms who want to take a more scholarly approach to their practice and gain professional recognition as an Associate Fellow of the HEA.

Introduction to Academic Practice for Doctoral Researchers (IAPDR) is a 20-credit Masters level module which allows participants to tailor their studies to their own teaching responsibilities and interests. The emphasis is therefore on self-directed study which is supported by peer- and tutor-led workshops, optional workshops and one-to-one tutorials. Participants are also required to undertake relevant courses from the Introduction to Learning and Teaching (ILT) in HE programme in order to establish a common foundation, and to participate in other professional development activities related to teaching.

Participants will be required to identify a mentor in their department and to complete a formative and a summative (4000-word) assignment.

We are not currently running this programme and the waiting list is full. However, we will update the message here as soon as we are able to offer any spaces.
