Professor Joan Duda


Our Professor of Sport and Exercise Psychology, working with coaches to ensure young people’s enjoyable and healthy participation in sport.  

Joan is internationally known for her expertise on motivational processes and determinants of adherence and optimal functioning in sport, exercise and dance. Joan is also project director for the international Promoting Adolescent Physical Activity (PAPA) project, which aims to enhance young peoples’ health and well-being via positive experiences in youth sport.  Her theory- and evidence-based Empowering Coaching training programme entails working with coaches so that they can understand how to make sport more enjoyable, engaging and empowering for every child at every competitive level.
