Map of Lakeside event at the Vale Village, showing food, cinema and activity zones

What is Lakeside?

It's all the fun of Welcome - outdoors, and here for two whole weeks. Join us for:

  • Street food from local legends Digbeth Dining Club
  • Outdoor cinema with deckchairs
  • Activity zones: carnival games, mini-golf, laser tag and more
  • Food and drink delivered direct to your seat
  • Undercover seating so you can stay dry, whatever the weather

Where is Lakeside?

By the lake! You'll find Lakeside at the Vale Village on campus.

It’s easy to spot from all the tents and twinkling lights - but if you're not sure where to go, there will be marshals to help you find your way once you're inside.

It opens on Saturday 20 September and runs until Sunday 4 October.

What does it cost?

Tickets to enter Lakeside cost £12 for a table for up to six people. There are two types of tickets: Lakeside Hub, and Lakeside Cinema. Slots last for 4 hours, with two sessions a day: 12 – 4pm, and 6 – 10pm.

Your flat isn't six people? You can still book a £12 table for a smaller group, or book more than one table.

Once you're inside, activities and the cinema (for cinema ticket holders) are free. You just need to pay for your food and drink.

How do I book?

You can book directly with your Guild of Students. Please note that the Government's rule of six will also apply to this event.

Can I just turn up?

If you arrive at Lakeside without a ticket, you will be asked to purchase a ticket for a table of six online. If there are no tables available, you won't be able to come in - so pre-booking is much better.

How are you keeping Lakeside safe?

Keeping you safe and well is our priority. Here's what to expect:

  • Temperature checks on arrival
  • Track and trace check in at your table (required)
  • One-way routes around the site
  • Marshals to give directions and help out if there’s a problem

You’ll need to stay in your seat, unless visiting the toilets or going to an activity. All your food and drink will be delivered direct to you, so put your feet up and relax.

Please remember: you're responsible for your own actions, at Lakeside and beyond. By coming to Birmingham you're becoming part of a big community, and we all need to work together to make this semester a great experience for all.
