Student groups and societies

Student groups and societies are a great way to meet like-minded students. From hobbies and skills, to politics and campaigning, there is a vibrant community of groups across campus.

Student groups

As your students' union, the Guild of Students is home to over 500 student groups and associations, and if you can't find one to suit, you can start your own! You'll find groups for a whole range of interests and activities, and the Guild of Students is supporting groups throughout this uncertain time.

Some societies are run separately by the relevant departments, such as The Holdsworth Club (Law) and UBRacing.

University Music

University Music, partnering with the University of Birmingham Music Society, organise and deliver a huge variety of ensembles, concerts, workshops, and social events throughout the year covering jazz to classical and everything in between, with more than 600 students rehearsing and performing alongside UoB staff and local residents across 36 groups.
