Accommodation allocations

We know that hearing which accommodation you've been allocated is important. Make sure you know when you will hear, and what you will need to do next.

In order to ensure that offers of accommodation are as fair as possible, all accommodation is allocated in a random order through our automated allocation process. Some accommodation is inevitably more popular than others, which means we can’t always guarantee you will get your first choice. We will endeavour to get as close to your preferences as possible.

For more information on our allocation process, please visit our allocating accommodation page

September arrivals – conditional students

If you are coming to the University of Birmingham with a conditional offer and applied within the Freshers’ Guarantee Scheme, Living will allocate your accommodation up to 14 days from the day A-level results are released. Once you receive your offer of accommodation you’ll need to make a pre-payment of £550 to secure the room within four days of receiving your offer.

September arrivals – unconditional students

If you are coming to Birmingham with an unconditional offer, Accommodation Services allocate your accommodation in July. If you have not heard anything by early August, then please contact LIVING Accommodation Services. Once you receive your offer of accommodation you’ll need to make a pre-payment of £550 to secure the room within four days of receiving your offer.

September arrivals – insurance, clearing, and applications outside the Freshers’ Guarantee Scheme

If you are coming to Birmingham with an insurance or clearing offer, or did not apply within the Freshers’ Guarantee Scheme, make sure you have applied for accommodation. Living will then contact you around 10 days after A Level results day. Where we have vacancies we will offer these rooms and if we do not have accommodation within our own stock we will advise on suitable alternative arrangements. Once you receive your offer of accommodation you’ll need to make a pre-payment of £550 to secure the room within four days of receiving your offer.

If you are planning to be on holiday during these times and will not have access to your registered email account, you must contact Living to let them know. Failure to do so may result in your allocation being cancelled unnecessarily.

Accommodation Pass

Before you arrive at the University, you will need to obtain your Accommodation Pass through the application portal. This will provide you with essential information about your accommodation and the services that we provide, as well giving you access to the flatmate finder.
