Getting here and getting started

There are a few simple things you can do to help you feel ready and prepared for starting your studies!

Setting up your email, wifi, and other useful services

Once you have completed Online Registration, you will have access to all of our online systems, including the MyUoB app.

Your student email is the main way we will communicate with you, from updates on your course to your Welcome emails and our fortnightly Brum Bulletin newsletter. You can also access wifi on campus and at accommodation sites, and use other resources like Canvas (our virtual learning environment) and the Library.

Plan your journey to University

Planning your journey to get here is important no matter how far you are travelling. From arriving through UK customs, to parking on Arrivals Weekend or finding local bus routes, we have information to help guide you.

Moving into accommodation

For students moving into University or partner accommodation, you will receive your offer and important updates via the Accommodation Portal. You can also use the portal to book your timeslot to move in. It's also a good time to start to think about what to pack and bring with you.

Commuting to campus

We know that not all students move into university accommodation - with our own train station and our central location, lots of students choose to live locally and commute. You can find our tips and advice for commuting students to help you get ready.

Arrivals Weekend

Arrivals Weekend is Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September - we can't wait to welcome you! Arrivals Weekend is for all students, whether you are moving into accommodation or not. You can meet our teams at the Welcome Fair, explore the Wellbeing Marquee, and just enjoy being on campus. Everyone is welcome, so feel free to bring you friends and family.
