Student societies

Whether you have just arrived on campus or have been here years, it is never too late to join a student group, to make friends, develop new skills and discover your passions.The Guild is home to over 300 student groups, so whether you are interested in singing, sports, politics or food - you are sure to find the perfect group for you. You can join a student group at any point in the year and each group will host its own calendar of events and activities.

Some societies are run separately by the relevant departments, such as The Holdsworth Club (Law) and the University of Birmingham Music Society.

Sports and activities

At Birmingham, sport is for all - from world class athlete to general fitness. Sport and Fitness offers a wide range of sporting and active opportunties for you to get involved in. Join the gym, try a sport, or play for a team - there are a whole range of options.

There are also a number of active student groups and societies at the Guild, such as dance, Bhangra, mountaineering, and hiking.

The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy

The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy at St Francis Hall (O2 - Edgbaston campus) offers an inclusive space for prayer, meditation, relaxation and more. All students are welcome, whether you consider yourself to be religious or not. You can speak to the full and part-time chaplains, attend groups and events, or just visit and use the space available.
